So That's Where Sheila Went
Does Sheila Copps still write a column for the National Post? Is there a category below occasional? I came this close to cancelling my Post subscription when they chose to bump Colby Cosh's regular spot for her, but cooler heads prevailed when I realized that would leave me with just the Globe and Mail to read each day (the Globe gets benched on days when I only have time to scan one paper in the morning). I actually did cancel my Post subscription after the Aspers finally stopped putting up the "Mark Steyn will return" box on the op-ed page, only to return when I realized how far the Globe really has fallen in recent years.
Back to Sheila. I don't normally listen to talk radio on the weekends after about 11am, but the radio was on CFRB tonight as I was cooking dinner. I vaguely recognized the voice and in no time concluded that we were not listening to a professional broadcaster. Then it clicked: Weekends is hosted by Sheila Copps! What's worse, this show is syndicated, so Toronto isn't the only market subject to it. Some advice for TRI Strategic Entertainment: Sheila brings nothing to the table for a human interest show. You'd be much better off hiring an unknown with some presence or charisma.
