Ending the suffering in Africa is certainly a noble cause, but it seems to me that actively promoting democracy would be a much more effective and long-term approach than simply cancelling third world debt. The West might as well cancel the debt, though; odds are the money will never be recouped anyway, but have you ever heard about a famine in a democracy?

From a musical perspective, Live 8 for me is all about Pink Floyd.
